The 21 percent, and what it costs
This is the largest discount for an unrecoverable payment method recorded anywhere in this market. It is also the only one whose seller explains the arithmetic behind it on the same page.
01Their reason
They publish it themselves
“Credit card processors working in our industry hold us up to 21% of every transaction”JTime, frequently asked questions
That is a straight answer and it is almost certainly true. Processing in this trade is expensive and unstable, and a seller who avoids it keeps the difference. Passing that difference to the buyer is a rational offer, not a trick.
The trick would be leaving out what the buyer gives up in exchange. So here it is.
02Arithmetic
What the discount is worth
Their own published prices on the day we read the site ran $216 to $891. At 21 percent:
- A $216 watch
- saves $45
- A $500 watch
- saves $105
- A $891 watch
- saves $187
Now the other column. What a crypto payment costs is the whole price, every time, because the transaction cannot be reversed by anybody. There is no dispute, no chargeback and no arbitration. You save $105 and you stake $500.
That trade is worse here than at most sellers for one specific reason. No warranty is published, so the payment method is the only leverage a buyer holds after delivery. Spending it for 21 percent leaves nothing.
03Cards
Available, sometimes
Their FAQ is candid about this too:
“Visa, Mastercard, Amex and the main banks do not accept our products and it is very difficult to manage credit card payments”JTime, frequently asked questions
So check the option at checkout rather than assuming it. If a card is offered, take it and decline the discount. If it is not, you are choosing between routes that are all final, and the choice becomes which one you can evidence later.
04Other routes
Everything else on the list
They name Instant SEPA and ACH for transfers, and Wise, Chime, Remitly, Zelle, Revolut and Western Union as alternatives. They also mention we can offer COD (Cash on Delivery) service to some specific countries.
None of those reverses. Cash on delivery is the exception worth asking about, because it is the one arrangement on the list where the watch arrives before the money leaves.
There is also $25 off a first order for newsletter subscribers. That one is free and costs you nothing but an email address.
05Ours
How we price payment
Nothing here is discounted for paying in a way you cannot undo. What a buyer keeps by refusing that trade is worth more than the percentage. Our cover reads 24 months on the entire watch, written down before you pay, and a return is taken as a case and decided on what happened. On paper, which is precisely the part missing from theirs.
